Cyta the long-term leader in Safe Internet promotion

Cytanet appoints 84 scouts as Safe Internet Ambassadors

In an atmosphere full of youthful enthusiasm and the spirit of the scouting motto “Be Prepared”, Cytanet recently appointed a number of young scouts as Safe Internet Ambassadors.

At the event, held in the amphitheatre at Cyta’s Head Offices in Nicosia, some 84 Pathfinder Scouts officially began their new role.

In preparation, the young ambassadors attended a special training programme in 2016-2017 on the subject of Safe Internet use, as part of Cytanet’s long-term cooperation with the Cyprus Scouts Association (CSA).

As a strategic partner of the CSA, Cytanet espouses the values of the Scout movement and, together, the two organisations engage in interactive actions that aim at the lifelong learning of proper online behaviour. It was in the context of these activities that the concept of the Safe Internet Ambassador concept arose.

This institution aims at using the abilities of young scouts to become Safe Internet Ambassadors, who first undergo training themselves and are then in a position to transfer their knowledge of proper online behaviour to the rest of the scouting community and others. Through this institution, Cytanet also aspires to reinforce younger users’ knowledge of Safe Internet even further.

The Commissioner for Volunteerism and NGOs, Mr. Yiannis Yiannaki, honoured the event with his presence. The event was also attended by CSA leaders, scouts and their parents, media representatives and Cyta personnel.
