Safe Internet: Cyta’s consistent support for Education and young people
Another year of special presentations by Cytanet

For yet another year, Cytanet is continuing its campaign to educate and inform children in schools about Internet-related issues. In recognition of the fact that it is becoming increasingly important to make children and their parents aware of what is going on in today’s rapidly changing digital environment, the need for safe Internet use has become a longstanding concern of Cyta. Increased public awareness provides a sound basis for all of us to be ready to identify and manage online dangers and also to make the best use of all the knowledge, entertainment and communication that the Internet has to offer.

The educational presentations by Cytanet will take place during the 2018-2019 academic year in all primary, secondary and technical schools in the framework of the European CYberSafety project and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Culture.

Over the years the Cyta team of nine trainers has given over 1,300 presentations in schools all over Cyprus to a total of 140,000 students and teachers. Similar presentations are organised for parents in conjunction with the various Parents Associations and the Pancyprian School for Parents. Additional actions taken during the campaign include the implementation of a corresponding programme of activities with the Cyprus Scouts Association, the publication and distribution of informative material, the holding of competitions and the co-organisation of seminars.

Cyta is fully aware of its responsibility as the leader in Cyprus’ communications sector and it undertakes its Safe Internet activities in the context of its Corporate Social Responsibility, thereby showing its sensitivity and longstanding social contribution on issues of public interest and, in particular, those concerning education and young people.
